Artist Background
Artist Background
Susan Nethercote is an abstract floral and botanical painter living in Ballarat, Australia, with her husband and two little girls. Susan paints in acrylics and mixed media and is deeply inspired by nature, gardens and overseas adventures. She is also inspired significantly by a rich contemplative and spiritual life. In her abstracted floral work, Susan seeks to capture and communicate the joy, dynamism and magic of nature through fluid, expressionistic and colourful interpretations of nature’s treasures. She started out researching, tutoring and lecturing in Fine Arts at the University of Melbourne. After career transitions, she established herself as a full-time professional painter in 2016. Susan loves to teach her painting style in her online ‘Painting as a Practice’ classes. She also enjoys sharing intimately her journey as an artist in her podcast: ‘The Susan Nethercote Studio Insider Art Podcast’.
Product Specification
Product Specification
We use 2mm cast acrylic, which is visually indistinguishable from glass and virtually unbreakable.
We specifically do not use styrene, as, though cheaper, it is normally only 1mm thick, offers far less support, and goes yellow over time.
We use MDF backboard for strength. As MDF is a wood product, it can contain acids. To safeguard against these leeching out and affecting your print, we insert an acid free sheet of conservation barrier board between the back and print.
All of our prints are delivered ready to hang.
